Book¶
A book is a collection of songs — an anthology, a songbook, a repertoire. It's an ordered container that references the songs (Song) it contains: when a song is updated, the book reflects the current version.
What it contains and how it looks¶
A book has a name, a description and a cover, plus the list of songs. You create and manage it from the Library: add or remove songs, edit name/description and cover, refresh the contents (Refresh all summaries).
Private or public¶
Like a song, a book can be private or public:
- from private you can publish it: in that step your contained songs are made public in turn, while any non-publishable songs by others are left out (a window tells you before you proceed);
- a public book appears in the catalogue, where others can subscribe to add it to their own material.
When a book changes¶
When the creator or a collaborator adds or removes songs in a book you follow, your library catches up on its own the next time you open it:
- added songs enter your library labelled new · from followed by the book's name; the label disappears the first time you click the song;
- a song removed from the book leaves your library, unless you also have it another way (yours, shared with you, or in another book);
- the book's row shows +N −M (added / removed), and a dot appears on Books in the sidebar. Inside the book, a strip at the top sums up what changed since your last visit, with the titles of the removed songs; then the marker goes away.
The book's creator and collaborators also get a notification summing up the changes made by others. Changes made close together end up in a single notification.
Roles and export¶
A book is subject to the Roles (creator, owner, collaborator, viewer,
subscriber). In the book's panel in Library, the People section shows the avatars of the
creator, owners, collaborators and viewers; the creator and the owners invite and change roles
with + or by clicking an avatar. Mere subscribers don't see it. A book can be exported to a .nrk file (and re-imported): see Importing and
exporting.
To build instead an ordered setlist for performance, with transpositions and form for each song, use a Playlist.
